my favourite location
i have gone to swiss chalet ever since i was born and i love it i love memorial cause one of the waitresses me and my parents have always treats me like her daughter she is a really great server i also love the food there its so tasty i also love going there cause i like a guy who works there i'm not going to say his name though just incase he reads this but swiss chalet is my favourite place to have dinner and lunch at i totally recomend going there it is amazing

lousy
crust nice and fresh, way too much sauce,very few topping rate it a 3 lasanga is horrible and the garlic toast was a slice of texas toast very very greasy even got the pop order wrong - it was suppose to be diet pop will never waste my money ording again

From Friendly to foe
My wife, friends, family and buisness associates have been frequenting the James McKevitt Road SW location from almost the opening. until a relativly recent staff change when two young friends started working ther, it was the pub we all often refered to as Cheers (like the sitcom). We have met many people, some who have become very close frinds. The food is pretty good, and the cocktails are the best value in town. The atmosphere was always a happy one, and you could stop in even on your own and have a warm chat with the bartender. Unfortunately, this is all gone now as the two girls think they own it and can sit and chat with thier friends and "I'll get to you when I have time" attitude. We are all going to miss our friendly watering hole very much and hpoe someday the owners (who are both very good and caring people will change this back the old John Henrys Pub that it used to be.

Awesome Chinese Food!
This is some of the best Chinese Food that I have ever had. I have been here often and the service is great! They treat you like a king and feed you well. Portions are large and prices are good. Ask for Marvin, he's a really great guy and knows how to treat his guests!

far east has been a family favorite for at least forty years
The jutras family has been going to far east foods for the best in calgary and dare i say it, all of alberta, ginger chicken and beef!!! My father went to school with the owner of far east and as a youngster my brother and I have been going ever since !!! ITs the only place for take out in this city as far as our family is conserned!!! I would recommend them to any one who wants the best in take out chinese food and the portions are the best to!!!!

Great Place
The atmosphere is really nice, the service is good and the food is pretty good. Their Sunday brunch is worth it, very good food and good value. Will definitely be going

My favourite place to dine in Calgary
Have been back here half a dozen times over the past 12 years or so. Every meal has been close to perfect. Love the salad and soup bar. I particularly like the steak soup. All beef dishes are to die for. Portions are huge. Service charming and attentive (special kudos to Daniel for perfect service at our last visit in March). If you are visiting in Calgary, you have to make Smugglers a priority stop.

Hands Down Best Food in Calgary
I have been to Mercato a number of times and each time I think I enjoy it more than the last. The service is absolutely excellent. Great recommendations on wine, food pairing, your water glass is never empty, always accommodating. But far and away the food is to die for. Try the mushrooms (funghi)or the beans. The caprese salad is delicious as well and my favourite is the steak. I always eat too much when I come here and I always leave happy. Note: Saturday's at lunch are a fun time to eat here as its packed with everyone eating and drinking red wine. Note 2: The atmosphere can be a bit loud and it can be hard to get a reservation - book early. Also, it is quite popular with the pre-Flames game crowd.

Very tasty
Overall it is about what you would expect for a dim sum restaurant but the food is first rate. I recommend the Chinese greens. If they don't come around you need to request them. The curried octopus is also a real stand out.

This is a "Must-Try" Experience
I have had the pleasure of dining at San Remo on four separate occasions now. Each time has been as good as or better than the last. The service is outstanding, the menu is not long and yet still hard to decide since they all sound so good and lastly, the noise level is great - you can actually have conversation without yelling over top of the music. Specifically, my favorites have been the Lobster-Whiskey Bisque and the Agnolotti appetizer. I have been more than surprised at the quality of the food each and every time. I travel for a living and eat in a lot of restaurants. San Remo can play with the big boys. It's no surprise now that they have three locations in Calgary: Garrison Gate, MacKenzie Towne and Oak Bay Plaza. If you want a special night out with that special person in your life, San Remo is a must-try. You'll end up telling your friends about this place. My wife loved this place.

Wor Wonton still wins the soup war
Everyone hawks a Wor Wonton Soup but these guys win hands down. They have always been a good, simple, less-is-more restaurant which is comforting.

Exceptional!
I'm not sure what I enjoy more at The Ranche... the ambience or the food. Both are exceptional! The service is amazing too. Prices are in line with a fine dining restaurant. Worth the visit!

Amazing Food!
Reservations are recommended to get into this little gem of a restaurant. Depending on who answers the phone, your reservation experience will vary (from friendly and courteous, to curt and abrupt). Service in person is similar. However, the food (quality and taste) far outweigh the odd 'personality' issue (and it does tend to be one server). The food is always hot and flavourful. By far, my family's favorite Chinese food restaurant. (No debit machine, so be prepared.) We continue to go back, because the quality of the food has always been consistently good.

Best Italian Restaurant...
I've eaten at Il Chianti on several occassions. By far, my favorite Italian Restaurant in the city. Fantastic food, great atmosphere, the service is amazing. You won't be disappointed.

A Varsity Landmark
Loving this local Varsity tradition since I was 5 years old Tops Pizza (Varsity to some) is a Landmark in the neighbourhood. Situated on the end of a beat up strip mall on varisty Drive Tops provioded manya great lunch, fmaily treat and a great hangout for the boys as we play some Pac Man (the original one). With a price you can't beat and owners that are always happy to see you weather you're an old face or a new one Tops Pizza is a must for anyone new to Calgary or looking for a pizza with some flavour! Face it...good pizza doesn't have spinach and feta...it has grease, a lot of cheese, good fresh toppings and is delivered quick...VP has all that and subs!

The BEST Pizza you will ever eat...
In today’s world of pre-made pizzas, assembled by kids you wouldn’t let mow your lawn, you owe it to yourself to experience (bar none) the best pizza in Calgary. I know what you’re asking yourself and no I am not the Owner’s kid, nor do I have any ties to Varsity Pizza other than having its cravings haunt me daily. I am, however, fairly biased as I’ve been lucky enough to have grown up on this stuff. Elementary, Junior High and High School years were spent enjoying Jim’s Pizza (the owner) and subs. We’ve all had the mediocre “second pizza for 8 cents!” dough with sauce many try to pass as pizza. The amount of flavor Varsity Pizza puts into their pizzas should be criminal – and even if it was I’d buy it on the streets! Treat yourself. If you have time, stop by say “Hi” to Jim and play some Pac-man. If not, order it and get ready to be blown away. The best pizza related decision you will ever make. Period. Great greek food
Really great greek food. Hummus is wonderfull with the pita. They make the best calamari I have ever had crispy and light. Really fun on a Friday or Saturday after 7pm. They usually have a belly dancer. Food here is authentic.All the food is really really good.

Excellent every single time
My husband and I LOVE the food. We used to live in Calgary and now we drive 2.5hrs just to eat here. This food has been reviewed in the Calgary herald and voted best chinese food more than once. The panfried wontons,palace style shrimp,ginger beef,black pepper chicken,Mandrin style pork,veg fried noodle are our favorites. If you like spicy really good chinese food this is it! If you go on a weekend you might want to phone and make a reservation it can fill up pretty quick.
