Okay Food, but a Terrible Experience
I've been to Gina's a few times now and each time I eat in the service has been horrible. On our last visit my friends and I waited over an hour for our food (this was after the server finally took our order). I wouldn't have cared that much but it wasn't even busy when we came in and people who came in after us ate and left before we even got our meal. When we asked for our food to go because it was taking so long, the waitress acted as if we were being difficult. The food is semi okay and the price was alright for the portion size, but the only reason I had even gone to Gina's in the past is because it is the only mexican restuarant I knew of in town. Honestly, I would suggest if you ever did want food from here save yourself some hassle and get it to go.

Best Pizza
I have always liked their pizza, one of about 3 in town .... We tried their chicken and pizza recently and my husband and grandaughter both loved it, husband said it was better than most in town....

For the value, it is probably the best pizza, lasagna, steak in town.....we go every month, and have for years!!

My Favourite Restaurant In Nanimo
After reading a few other reviews on this site, I have come to the conclusion that the other reviewers just don't "get" Gina's. Gina's is by far my favourite restaurant in all of Nanaimo and I have been going there for years. It is the tackiest restaurant in town, and proud of it. The food is affordable and fantastic, with very large servings of authentic Mexican food. The place is a little tight inside, and if you have a large group you might be bumping elbows a little bit - but I think this is one of its charms, as everybody has a great time together (if your looking for a private place to take a date this is probably not the place for you). Admittedly, they could use a few more people working on busy nights, as the food can take a little while, but it is no worse than some of Nanaimo's higher-class restaurants, and the prices are much better. 9/10

Fabulous Food
Great looking place with an excellent menu, the steak zougla was especially good. The service was very good.

Not so great
Food was mediocre. Everything was OK, but certainly not impressive. I've had better meals from the local supermarket's frozen food section. The menu includes Italian food like penne, and some typical Greek items such as; spanakopita, moussaka, hummus, etc. There are also burgers, steaks, and pizza. I think they're trying to do a bit of everything. Atmosphere: the place looks terribly suburban. It feels like a cross between a family restaurant and one that is trying to be fancy. For example, there are linen tablecloths, but then paper place-mats on top of that. Music is horrible pop-schlock. There is a teensy bit of a view - one can see the smallest amount of ocean through some trees. Mostly what you see is the church across the street (Brechin United) and city streets. I've found a few really fantastic restaurants in Nanaimo, but this isn't one of them.

Fantastic!
Very elegant surroundings, lovely fine dining service. Great location on the highway, easy access. Service was professional. I was there with a group of people. There are too many dishes to mention. You should experience this restaurant.

Terrible Food and Terrible Service
Don't waste your time or money on this one - food was bland and poorly presented. The service was slow and the server was totally disinterested and all we heard from the staff was complaining

I've been going to Windard for 16 years now and I have only ever had bad service & food there once. For the most part it has been great, and the people that work there are friendly.

A real treasure, and Vegan-friendly!
The Thirsty Camel is the best middle-eastern eatery I've found this side of Tel Aviv. Everything is exceptionally good, including the busy yet friendly owners! I wish there were more Thirsty Camel outlets up and down the Island and in Vancouver. This is a real find, and you owe it to yourself to visit and taste their healthful fare. Vegan-friendly, too.

Fantastic place!
When we go to Nanaimo, we make sure to visit the Thirsty Camel. Fantastic food and great coffee. They're reliable and steady, and there's no place I'd rather go for lunch. I like the falafel pita so much that I have a hard time ordering anything else. Friends tell me that all the items on the menu are great, and from the nibbles I've stolen from their plates, I believe it.
