DISAPPOINTED AFTER 15 YEARS
USED TO HAVE DINNER THERE AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS.OUR LAST VISIT WAS TERRIBLE;LOBSTER TAILS WERE RUBBERY, FILET MIGNON CAME SMOTHERED IN SOME SORT OF SAUCE, WHICH WAS NOT REQUESTED; 6 LARGE OLD CARROT CHUNKS WERE RAW, 1 LARGE BROCCOLI STEM (WITH 1 FLOWERET ATTACHED)WAS ALSO RAW; THE SPAETZLE WAS REHEATED AND BURNT! THE ICED WATER WAS HOWEVER DELICIOUS. NO ATTEMPT WAS MADE BY THE STAFF TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. HAVE SINCE FOUND OUT THE RESTAURANT HAS CHANGED HANDS. WE WILL NOT RETURN.

big disappointment
Three couples were together to celebrate a wedding anniversary at Kalvas. Three years ago we'd been there and enjoyed everything about the evening. August 8th was a disappointment in every way. The prime rib 'specials' had been re-warmed and were very tough. There was a mistake in the veggie choice in one meal and the seafood pasta was overcooked. Four meals arrived together with a wait for the last two. During the meal we tried to locate our waitress to get the wine that had been ordered to go with the meal. As the plates were being cleared away, our waitress appeared to tell us our drinks were now 'up'. No apology except for the delay in getting the bill---we were told it is written by hand and that it takes a while! Poor service, second-rate food and city prices. This is Parksville at its worst!

Best fish and chips in the world
As an ex-patriot of the British Isles I have had a lot of fish and chips, however, I have never had fish and chips as good as this. The batter is light and crispy, the fish is consistently good (the halibut is by far the best), and the chips are traditional style. The quality of the food is absolutely outstanding. This is by far the best fish and chips I have ever had, and we always make a point of picking some up whenever we are in town.

Sushi Ichi is an excellent restaurant , the prices are amazing compared the the sushi restaurants in nearby Nanaimo. The food is very fresh and very nicely presented. There is a broad range of food , from the inside out rolls , to baked oysters to the amazing assortment of fresh seafood. It is very busy on weekends so reservations are a must!.

Awesome sushi, Great sushi bar
I've been to Sushi Ichi a few times and let me tell you : it is one of the best. The owner/chef started at Sakae in Vancouver, learned lots obviously, he is great! Good young chefs in training too! Very busy on weekends.

Not fancy, but great food
Been to Sushi Ichi many times. It is not the fanciest of places, but it is clean, affordable and has fantastic Japanese cuisine. Busy on weekends, so phone ahead!
