Won't be going back
Service is horrible. Food is horrible. It used to be good, but the standards have been lowered considerably. Will not ever go back.

The best reason to go downtown.
Winston's is the top restaurant in town, by far. It is leaps and bounds above anything else in Prince George. Words to describe Winston's are: classy, cozy, elegant, delicious, friendly, accommodating, memorable. At first, stepping into the dining room can be a little dark and scary, but once your eyes adjust and you get seated in the big, comfortable chairs you will become very relaxed and at ease. The servers are very friendly and smart. I know intelligence isn't something that you commonly rate servers by, but when you go to a classy place like this you want someone who is knowledgeable about the entire menu and can offer drink recommendations to accompany your dishes. The servers at Winston's definitely take their job seriously, but at the same time they don't make you feel intimidated. But enough about the servers. The atmosphere is amazing. The lights are dim, but not to the point where you can't see who you're seated with. The dimness creates the illusion that you're the only ones in the restaurant, even though you know otherwise. It's warm and cozy, and they play relaxing jazz/R&B music in the background at an appropriate level. The ambience is very romantic; Winston's is definitely a good choice for an anniversary or a special occasion with your partner. In terms of food, Executive Chef Barry Willis does amazing work. His dishes are all fantastic. He's not the kind of chef who tries to create something gourmet but fails because it's out of his league. I've seen so many restaurants try to do that, and it's aggravating and *cough*White Goose*cough* disappointing. Winston's uses fresh, organic ingredients to craft dishes that are expertly prepared, healthy, and delicious. Every month (well, I'm not honestly sure how often), the menu changes to give new dishes or new seasonal variations of their classic dishes. They often have a four-course dinner special for approximately $25 per person which offers several choices for appetizer, entrée, side dish, and dessert. Sometimes this special menu has a theme, such as "food for love" for the month of February. I took my girlfriend out for Valentine's day 2007 and ordered the following: Appetizer: Venison carpaccio Entrée: Duck breast w/ currant sauce and roasted potatoes Dessert: I don't remember exactly, but I think it was a chocolate cake with fresh vanilla-bean ice cream. We asked to split the whole thing between us, and they were more than happy to serve two equal portions of everything on individual plates. In that way, it was not very expensive at all and it was still enough food for both of us. My girlfriend who is very picky of "overly complex flavours" with too many spices or sauces told me that the food there is perfect. While you're waiting, they give you fresh bread from the oven with three kinds of butter, which are all delicious and do their part to appetize you for the main dish. They have a large assortment of wines, and they even serve Dom Perignon if you're willing to spend a few hundred dollars on a bottle. They will be pleased to accommodate you if you don't like something, which isn't very likely anyway. ;) Overall, Winston's is the ultimate in fine-dining and it's surprising to see a place like this in Prince George.

Great evening
Having lived in Pr George for over 16 years we had not been to Winstons since 1990 we decided to go for our anniversary celebration last night. While not a fan of most hotel rstaurants this was a very pleasant surpise-the food was excellent, the service very good and the ambience for a quiet evening was second to none. Now if only they had a view. The crab cakes are superb. The bonus was that the entres were on for 2 for 1 that evening and for the rest of July on Sunday-Wednesday.

Its good, but a bit slow, and cold on average, i personally have never gotten an really cold meal, but have heard talk, and opinions about other meals, unique taste, a little something for everyone, not much selection for vegetarians or vegans though.

Not a real Whitespot
I grew up on the coast with Whitespots and the only one that has disappointed me more than this one is the one in Kelowna. A couple of times I have enjoyed what tasted like a real Whitespot burger,the other times they have seemed like a half-hearted attempt. Whitespot is trying to move up-scale in their menu at the cost of what they did well. Wait people spraying amonia based cleaners around while I'm eating don't do much to improve the situation either.

I generally like almost if not all of the white spot restuarants but this location needs improvement. The service is slow and the food is not that great. This is the worst white spot location i have ever been to.

Previously Misunderstood!!
If you are looking for a restaurant in town that has a little bit of everything, WhiteSpot is the place to go. Everytime I go there something new always catches my eye, from the Tomato Basil Fettucini to the Teriyaki Chicken and prawns and the Chicken Curry Rice Bowl. The service is very friendly and prompt, you can tell the wait staff enjoy their jobs. I would highly recommend WhiteSpot to anyone in town who is looking for a casual and enjoyable meal.

A Touch of Mexico!
Best (only?) place in town to eat. Terrific chipotle (smoked mexican pepper sauce) chicken quesadillas! Have a real treat before they are taken off the menu!

It seems the previous reviewer hasn't done much dining in Prince George. White Spot's food has been mediocre and delivered cold whenever I've gone and the service slow. The only thing the place has going for it is some of the ambiance, but the tables just make you feel like you're in a cheap diner. Overall, I've had worse. But there is much better out there, too -- even within a 2-minute walk.

First time lucky, second time...not
I went twice...the first was great: great food, great service. The second time was disappointing. It took 20 minutes after we were sat for the waitress to even make her way over to us...another 20 minutes for her to bring drinks, and an hour and a half for the appetizer. When the food came, it was terrible (I ordered the same thing that I had on the first visit)...cold and way too much pepper...<br> I waitressed for three years, so I'm part of a very small group of people who understand that the wait on food isn't always the waitress' fault. However, in this particular case, she spent the majority of the time flirting with the bartender.<br> It didn't help that she was the only server on the floor either...that in itself would make service slow. But when you're too busy flirting to take care of your tables...<br> ...things that make you go "hmm".

Loved it
Surely the person that wrote the review above, could have figured out he didn't like it before visiting so many times. He is obviously one of those people that will never be happy with anything. I have been there a few times and the food is always great, portions are huge and the service is courteous and quick. I would recomend this place to anyone who likes a nice atmosphere with great food.

I have been there a couple of times..always had good food and sevice..One of the main reason I will go back is not for the beer or the food...is because of all the hot women that work there...They must have the best looking serving staff in PG..
