Second time unlucky
My second lunch for a retirement event in the past 6 months, and again lunch was just plain bad. The first time it was a salmon sandwich, smothered in some kind of sauce clearly meant to disguise the age and failure of an old piece of overcooked salmon. It was pretty awful. Today's lunch was a chicken foccacia sandwich. How can they go wrong right? HA! The sanwich itself was a terrible, small and slimy with mayo assembly, with undercooked bacon and a single slug of chicken, all designed to fall to pieces upon lifting, accompanied by deep fried potato chips, which I would never have ordered if a choice had been offered. (our server appeared too busy to check this when taking orders). The chips had several lumps of salt on them and I gave up after a few of these greasy things. All in all I give the Waterfront Warehouse a 3 out of 10, but full points for being consistently awful. Never again.

A Hidden Gem...
Wow! After all that construction that was taking place, who knew that this restaurant was being unduly hidden!!! Shame on those responsible for not keeping it visible!! This restaurant provides it all from the delightful staff to the delicious food they serve. The owner Ross, was an absolute blast. Very attentative and helpful. Their Maple Squash soup is to die for. Also served are lovely fresh baked tea biscuits, with your choice of real butter not Becel or a lovely, light maple butter. Mmm. Their Crab Cakes are not to be passed by. These little delights are very addictive. Whatever you've done to improve these wonders, don't change back! They are awesome. In fact, there hasn't ever been anything that I couldn't give a positive note to. So happy that all the construction clutter is gone. I won't be kept away again :O)

Great place to have your break
Great selection of coffees, teas and baked items that are tasty and fresh. I love the evening low lit restaurant that is great to meet friends or a date. Very busy in the summer due to all the tourists... great for people watching as well.

Tourist trap?
We had heard great things about Salty's. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our visit. The food was beyond bland, and the portions were very small for the amount of food. We ordered a crab and artichoke dip. It came with maybe 15 nachos, and the size of the dip was...maybe 3 to 4 small tablespoons. It was also extremely spicy, something that is not mentioned in the menu. And at 11,95$, I thought it was a rip-off. We also got a seafood platter which consisted of 3 shrimps, 3 scallops, a piece of haddock and a piece of salmon. It was so small, we couldn't believe it was price over 21$. I seriously think that you pay for the waterfront view, not for the food. Service was good though, I mean, it's not the server's fault if the food sucks.

An Amazing First Time Experience
I am a student. I don't have a lot of money, but when it came to choosing a restaurant for my 2 year anniversary there was no doubt in our minds where we were going. Neither of us had ever experienced fine dining. We were a little weary of the prices but decided we really wanted to try the food. After visiting the website, our minds were set, we were going. The restaurant is charming, romantic, exudes fine dining, but still keeps ties to its Nova Scotian roots. The food is seasonal, local and always fresh. The buscuits are a wonderful touch. We payed $100.00 for our meal (appetizer, main course, and dessert) and tip, but the portions were huge and we were full. It was an amazing experience and we know where we are going for our 3 year anniversary. :D It is an amazing fine dining experience without having to dress up all fancy. I would recommend it to everyone!

Good Food and Great BLUES Entertainment
It is great to see the local BLUES talent! Normally attend on evenings when Theresa Malenfant and Shirley Jackson perform. Food is above average, service is good and the atmosphere is good. Will definitely be back! Hope to see more "new, up-and-coming" local talent!

One of Best Chinese Restaurant's in Halifax
Been a regular at King's Palace since mid-1990. Almost always enjoy the food! Wait staff very pleasant, and owners are friendly when you see them! Will be back again!

Old World Charm here in Halifax
When going out to dinner (special occasion or not), Cafe Chianti will always be my first choice! Excellent service, great food and extremely relaxing atmosphere provided from the owners, Jan and Helen Wicha, and all staff (wait staff and kitchen staff). Would highly recommend Cafe Chianti to ALL!

PERFECT FOOD AND SERVICE
I have lived in Nova Scotia my entire life and have lived in Halifax for many years and last week was my first visit. The haddock, shrimp and scallops were extremely fresh as was the vegetables. They probably get a lot of their product at the Halfiax Farmers Market judging by the taste and freshness. I ahve to say the service, food and all around experience exceeded our expectations. Can't wait to go again!

Lunch visit Sept 24, 2008
Stopped at Niche for a quick lunch... the atmosphere is very nice with lots of faux finishes like the Economy Shoeshop. Did Syparek do it? Anyway, I ordered the soup of the day - corn chowder and a BLT. My partner had a large greek salad. The soup was tasty in a generous helping but just barely warm. The BLT was served on white bread. The server didn't ask my choice although the menu offered white, whole wheat or panini at an additional cost of $1.50, which I would have preferred. It was fine. The greek salad was large and had a few decent olives and my partner enjoyed it very much. There was an enormous serving of apple pie with icecream on the side for desert along with large mugs of delicious full bodied coffee. Service was fast and very good, beside the minor BLT problem.

Great lunch spot!
This family lunchtime eatery is run like you would expect a Greek mama and papa to run a restaurant. Great food at fantastic prices. As noted above they really care about the customer. Very clean and fast too.

No thanks for lunch - otherwise fine
A real traditional, rollicking good time tavern. Everything I've ever had here at lunch however has been pretty much gross. Also the lunchtime beer is ridiculously overpriced at $6 or something. Great fun in the evenings though, no doubt about it, especially to take out of town visitors!

Good spot for tourists
Once upon a time a manager named Miranda ran this place and it operated like a finely tuned machine. Miranda left and an oddball assortment of staff started a regular turnover and it slid rapidly downhill. Coupled with the bizarre coffee card system where you can buy extra larges all week and when you get your freebie it's a small, or if you want a large you have to pay $.50 or so, I just don't go there anymore. It's overpriced with sometimes very weird staff. Too bad because the outdoor seating is terrific. Not sure why the place is riddled with tiny cameras though - it gives me the creeps.

Consistently great value
I have lunch at McKelvie's around once a month. It's consistently delicious, well cooked and nicely presented food at great value. The service is fantastic each and every time. I've had seafood and beef and pasta and salads and it's all fantastic. I highly recommend the place.

Change of ownership?
Did King Wah have a change in ownership? We were there in May(?) and the service was the pits. The waiter seemed lost and the bill was messed up. The servings were noticeably smaller than our previous visit; still delicious mind you but the plates seemed smaller and the cost higher. It used to be our favourite Chinese restaurant but we're casting our radar out for a new one.

Good healthy choices
Been to Cora's a couple of times. It's a treat to have such a selection of fruit and healthy choices over the standard grease-fare, and the quantities are impressive but wow does it it ever get crowded on weekends. The atmosphere is hectic. The staff tries hard to make it all work though, so that's a plus. All in all Cora's fills a niche in town and I'm glad to have them here.

Best I've Ever Had
The fish and chips at Fries and Co are definitely the best I've ever tasted. Not only is the haddock amazing, but the clams are exceptional. It's not hard to see why this place has been in business for over 35 years!

Last time was my last time ! unfortunately I was a fan of New fortune recommended it a lot , but no more.... The rice tasted like fish , beef n broccoli ... More like roast beef and gravy... Lemon chicken was one of the best things I ever had until this last meal .. I looked like I sucked a lemon when I ate it..And a really brown thing that was supposed to be an egg roll.( it was so over cooked , I thought it was re fried at least twice)

What a change over the years
The last time I was here was about 4 years ago. This place is a nice friggen spot. It's all been remodeled. The food before our concert was averaged price, but when we got it. I would have paid double for it. It was amazing. Great job Boomers gaing

Good place to go for <$15 per person
Pretty good pricing for less than $15 for just the buffet alone. Love the food! Don't just eat 15 egg rolls like my friend did lol. Try a bit of everything they put out there and it's definitely worth it! Air conditioning there was nice too.

Best pizza in town
Despite what Bill Cosby may have thought, Kit-Kat has to be the best tasting and best value for money pizza in Halifax. After trying several different pizza shops, this is the one I will return to time and again. The food is exceptional value. great base and no shortage of toppings. Even the guy who delivers is friendly and chatty, and will go the extra mile to deliver across the bay if asked. Top marks for a top business.

Good and bad
Atmosphere was nice. It took a long time to get noticed by our waitress. Had the nachos, described as "voted best in Halifax 10 years in a row". We really enjoyed them. My wife's meal was not as described by the waitress, and she barely ate any, it was gross. I had "best burger" or whatever they called it, and I found it cold and bland. I don't like to be pestered, but the waitress never came back even once to ask if all was okay. In fact, I had a very difficult time getting her to bring a bill. Very poor service. I'd consider coming back for the nachos, and hope for a different waitress/waiter.
