Good pho
I've had a lot of pho in my time in Ottawa, and Pho J&J competes with the best. I would highly recommend this place. The restaurant has simple decoration which adds to the warmth of the meal. I ordered the pho ga; my partner ordered the pho with tendon, tripe, rare beef (or something to that effect). The broth was some of the best I've had. Both had a rich, hot hot hot broth, with lots of flavour. The chicken and noodles was better than average. Apparently, so were the beef products. My only complaint is that I like to garnish my soup, but the appropriate garnish was not to be had. Most pho restaurants provide bean sprouts, cilantro and basil (and if you're lucky, hot peppers) to add to the soup once it has been brought to your table. Alas, my soup was as lacking in condiment as a plain hamburger on a bun. The prices are a bit steeper than I'm used to, but hey - there isn't much competing with them and the good ingredients are hard to get here (anyone seen the anise seed at Zehrs?!), so I don't blame them. Despite this, like I said, highly recommended. They have a good pho and good service and it's nice to have a restaurant in the area that serves something besides your traditional bland, greasy fare.

I wish there were more like this in Barrie
This is a nice little restaurant that my mother discovered while shopping in the South end. Otherwise, I would never have found it due to its quiet, not-so-eye-catching location. When one enters, they are greeted with a cool, pleasant decor, and sometimes by a server. As the location is a bit quiet, it's understandable that they may be caught off their guard by people wandering in the door. The menu is not terribly extensive, but the food is all enticing. I've had several dishes here. The mango salad is delicious. The vermicelli is alright; the sauce could use a bit more flavouring. The curries are very good - nice and spicy, just how I like it. The portion sizes are good. I've spent a lot of time in Canada's big cities trying to discover the best vermicelli, pho, mango salad, thai curry, etc. While this place does not rank highly against the rest of Canada, it definitely deserves a spot in the top-five on my best in Barrie list.

Food was fabulous. I was impressed to a 5oz steak portion for those who can't handle those 10oz steaks anymore! A wide variety menu. Both steaks were cooked exactly how we wanted them. Melt in your mouth delicious.

Great food
Tara has delicious food. The new chairs make it seem much nicer than it was before. Everything is very well prepared and comes hot to the table. The coconut cake is unbelievable. I wouldn't order the Chicken Dansak again but then I don't like really sweet main course dishes. The Chicken Tikka Masala is great. The papadums, Nan bread and Palao rice should not be missed.

Tara is a True Star of Indian Cooking
Probably close to being the best restaurant in Barrie, by far the best Indian restaurant. Do not be put off by its small size and slightly cafeteria-like ambiance - the food will make you a believer! Authentic Indian cuisine of truly flavourful proportions. Patrons of the milder persuasion can order food without heat - but I would recommend asking for medium spiciness. Lunch - the special set lunch is great value and quite filling. Dinner - set dinner for 2 will feed 4 comfortably. Overall, Tara (which means star in English) will win you over with authentic taste.

A Good Diner
The Western sandwich is worth the drive. It comes fresh, large and hot. Will be trying other menu items.

Best Bakery in Barrie
Breads and cakes are wonderful. They have the best breads and cakes T ever tasted. Very friendly service, you are treated like a good friend.

That was the Best Fish and Chips I Ever Ate.
I have to say that I have lived in Barrie for several years and have always seen the little restaurant known as Ollie's Fish and Chips and always had intentions of going there one day. Well I went on a Wednesday and a fine young gentlemen served me. The service along with the great fish mayby the price could be a little cheaper but in all I had a wonderful experience there and the food was excellent.

Exquisite
Exceptional food coupled with dedicated service, highlights the experience here. The bison was fabulous and the crème brûlée to die for. Highly recommended!

Surprise: Great Buffalo style wings
New in town, and knowing good wings and pizza, I ordered Wings, extra crispy, lightly sauced, med. For the first time in Barrie, this is what I got. Hot, crisy and light med. The pizza is not Buffalo style but is good warmed the next day. Service and staff are great. Good parking. If you know wings and can not find them, order Ital Pizza wings. I tell only wing lovers.

Henry's Fish and Chips on Anne Street
The food was greasy and not cooked properly with a dirty looking lady as the chef. No Hair net! Overall, the restaurant was disgusting. I will never be back. Very unsatisfied.

Nice Night Out
This restaurant is a block from the water in downtown Barrie. It's great for a romantic evening, or a bite before the bar. The seafood is fresh and presented beautifully. The staff is polite and caters to your every whim.

Know your Fish and chips?
New to Barrie, Fancy's was recommended for good, fresh fish, both eat-in and take-out. I tried the house speciality of Fish and chips. After an effective welcome, a short wait, good, hot food arrived. The batter is actually fully cooked. Ask for the house dressing. The colesaw added a great touch. Have been back for pan fried grouper. good but just good. The take out list is long and from what I could see, very popular. Go early Friday night. A new patio has been added. I will send friends there, if they know their Fish and Chips.

Absolutely A Must.
Wow! A great meal, seasonal spinach and strawberry salad with honey roasted almonds, four cheese pasta and sublimely delicious pecan pie. Dan Davidson, is an incredible chef.

I have been going to this restaurant for almost 15 years now, the food is incredible. Dan Davidson makes the most delicious deserts. I recommend it to everybody.
