Disappointed
We decided to have dinner for our anniversary and thought we would try 'La Piazza' as the line for the Black Dog was 45 minutes.

What a huge disappointment, although comical. We started with drinks and my wife ordered a ceaser. It was see- through, without any real favour and we wondered if they had shaken the clamato bottle before pouring. We returned the drink only to watch the manger take a sip of the rejected drink and then proceed to walk around the restaurant finishing the drink!!! Upon finishing the ceaser,he poured himself nice glass of wine. He was pleasant and entertaining to watch.

I ordered the pepper-corn steak special, which arrived in laser bean time. The flavour of the sauce was nice and it was cooked as I had requested (rare). Unfortunately, the meat was 'offal', with grizzle throughout. I managed to finish most, accumulating a nice pile of yuk on the side of my plate .... and then gave up. The vegetables that accompanied the dish were over down and well saturated in butter. My wife's meal(2 appetizers) was nothing special. The rosemary bread and balsamic was tasty.

We will not return to this restaurant for dinner as there are many other great restaurants in Manotick to spend $100 plus. The patio looked interesting so maybe just drinks next summer, at most.

Nobody here called TOM.
I'm a regular customer of La Piazza; I know all the staff very well as well as the owner, Frank. I read this last review and was quite upset by the blatant lies within it. First of all, I can say that the owner takes great pride in his establishment. He ensure's that there is never a lineup, I've never seen one, he also ensures that everyone is taken care of promptly and that the staff are working diligently to ensure great service. There are a number of red flags with this previous review, the number one being that there is noone working at La Piazza by the name of Tom!!!

FRANKIES IN THE HOUSE
I took my wife to this restaurant for our 10'th Anniversary on a Friday night. The owner introduced himself and offered us a free glass of wine during our wait for a table. He was walking around with a glass of wine and appeared to be inebriated. He was loud and obnoxious and seemed to be somewhere in outer space.

At that point the red flags went up but it was our Anniversary and too late to change plans. Besides, I figured the cook would be sobre and the food good.

We ate our dinner and watched the owner's behaviour with dismay. He was walking around yelping and clapping his hands like he was dancing to the beat of his own drummer. What's with this guy? Who is he performing for?

The service was shabby at best and it took a great deal of patience to sit through our meal. Our waiter was some guy named Tom. He was trying hard but there appeared to be a lot of tension between himself and the owner which may have accounted for the shabby service. At one point we could hear the owner telling one of his employees, "I'm the fuck__g boss!". The owner would disappear out onto the patio and pace back and forth constantly with his cell phone to his ear.

I don't know what goes on at that restaurant but I know we will never go back. The food was average but you could cut the tension with a knife. And the noise was something else.
Not a good experience at all but live and learn.

Now it's trash the competiton and pump your dump.
I've noticed the number of "one hit wonder" reviews starting to creep up again for this place. Four within the last month or so. This one goes a little further by subtly trashing the competition. It's curiously similar to this reviewers posts:

http://restaurantthing.com/ca/on/ottawa/show_user.php?Tab=2&ID=88955

And only a month apart. Coincidence? I doubt it. Especially with this places history. Just look at the reviews. It's one thing to try to pump up your score with fake reviews, but this is sinking to a new low. I guess The Black Dog must be giving them a run for their money.

Other than Ken V's positive review, this establishment whole score is based on "one hit wonders" and the adjustments made by those of us who are sick of the idiot's that do this. It cheapens the site and adds nothing.

Patrons should be wary of places such as this one that require fake reviews to promote their hole. If the place is that good, you'd see more legitimate reviews.

Time for another adjustment?

This was the best in Manotick
Out of all the restaurants we visited during our stay in Manotick, this was by far the best. We went during the "Taste of Manotick" event, it was packed. The restaurant was in full swing, crazy busy, but this just added to the fun overall vibe of the place. The patio is beautiful; I'm glad we came during the summer.

There was a group of 4 of us, luckily we were able to snag a table. Our waiter told us that our meals would probably be about a 45 minute wait and suggested some delicious Italian beer and appetizers to start. Good suggestions everything was wonderful. There was a great band playing during the event which made the wait time really a non issue. I hate being rushed in a restaurant anyway.
For our main courses we enjoyed the Lasagna, a wonderful veal saltimbocca, the Chicken La Piazza and finally the Steak Gorgonzola. Everything was mouthwateringly good.

Awesome Anniversary Dinner!!!
My wife and I just celebrated our 39th anniversary at La Piazza in Manotick and I just have to say we couldn't have had a nicer experience! The food was great, the ambience was awesome, but mostly we'd like to once again thank the owner, Frank, for being such a great guy! He went above and beyond to see to it that our evening was perfect...and it was! I would definitely recommend La Piazza to anyone looking for a palate tingling dinner experience in a beautiful relaxing setting.

Wow, this place rocks
Wow, this place rocks.....it starts with all kind of yummy neat appetizers which can be a meal in itself, and then the selection from the menu plus the daily specials is incredible...something for all palates. Service is very good, sometimes even a bit overwhelming. This is Italian with class. Reservations a must, as this place is always packed. Amazing Patio, with great live bands on the weekend.

Packed for taste of Manotick
A group of us decided to visit La Piazza during the "taste of Manotick" celebration this weekend. Everywhere was packed, including this restaurant. Although the service was a little slow - I wouldn't fault the restaurant, I think we just went at a bad time.

The food on the other hand was very good... we had several appetizers and a nice bottle of wine, and sat on the patio where we could enjoy the band. Overall impression of the establishment was good, the server we had was very pleasand and the food was great. I'd like to try it again but I think I'd pick a quieter evening.

I liked it
I agree it seems most of the reviews for this restaurant are made up as I am sure this one might appear to be given the newbie status, that said, I've been twice, liked it both times. I've seen the owner there on both occasions and he certainly does seem to be enjoying himself, self induced perhaps, but he was friendly to us.. Sent over a couple of drinks for no reason.. As far the patio, bar none, the best around..

The best restaurant people have pretended to visit!
When a restaurant tells you if the owner is "in the house", you know you're in for an ordeal. I don't know how many eating establishments let you know if the proprietor is in the building but I can say this: no other restaurant offers that as far as I know.

This restaurant is owned by one Frank D'Addario and judging from Google, he seems to be a bit of a troubled individual financially. I guess that is why he has people post phony reviews in an attempt to save what's left of his empire.

I don't know if I want to visit a restaurant that has had real reviews describe Mr. D'Addario as a drunken, rude lout who treats his staff poorly. People don't need to have their meal interrupted by some guy losing grip on reality and turning to the bottle and deceit to get by.

I'm sure his food is pretty tasty from what I read in his menu and the restaurant looks very nice but if he has no confidence in his product and needs to lie to people to drum up business then maybe the smart money would be to pass and just go elsewhere...or maybe he should bring in Marisol Simoes as a co-owner to teach him how to rope in schmucks.

Wonderful Italian food!!!
We would never had known this place was there but we had received a gift certificated to try it and so we found a gem!!! The place is busy so making a reservation would be your best bet. We sat at a romantic table in the back and our server Matt was wonderful. The homemade bread and dipping sauce was fantastic,I could have eaten that all night. We each had a pasta dish, The Combination Platter for me and Linguine Pescatore for the wife - both were delicious, and the quantity of food was fantastic for the price.

Amazing Gnocchi!
My hubby and I went to La Piazza this weekend and had a wonderful meal. I chose the Gnocchi with the Smelts to start; both were fresh, tasty and presented well. My hubby had the Steak Gorgonzola and shared my Smelts; his steak was very tender and he commented that he could almost cut it with a butter knife. We were welcomed warmly by the owner upon arrival and he even came and chatted with us during our meal, he really seemed interested in what we thought of the food and the restaurant in general. The weather was beautiful and we opted to sit on their beautiful outdoor patio, although the foliage is missing off the trees we still had an enjoyable meal in the sunshine. Overall we were very pleased with the entire experience and we'll go back again.

Family Favourite
We're regulars at La Piazza and we love the food. Everything is always cooked to perfection, the chef has been cooking in the Ottawa region for 40 plus years and is really experienced with Italian cuisine.
The family that owns the restaurant is very nice, they always come and chat with us and like to hear feedback on how everything was. They take great pride in the business and it shows.

Enjoyable Evening
Fantastic restaurant! I would recommend reservations as they fill up quickly.
The atmosphere is smart and lively. Tables are a tad tight in the main restaurant which makes it a little noisy, but this added to the authentic Italian bistro style dinner we enjoyed. The service is spot on, not overbearing but very attentive. Young, energetic staff keep the glasses full and conversation light.

This was our second time at La Piazza and the food was again awesome! Unique, fresh combinations made ordering fun and we shared a number of apps amongst the 4 of us. The calamari was fantastic and we had a nice antipasto platter. We shared the steak gorgonzola and the rack of lamb, both were cooked to perfection, leaving us soaking up the juices with the great italian bread.

We have sat on the patio before and it's a great place to people watch and sip a bevy. A massive tree provides some welcome shade in the summer and makes this one of the best patios to have a meal on as it never gets too hot.

I'm excited to return. Highly recommend La Piazza for a great meal with friends.

Pointless score lowering review.
Just posting this to take a few points off the 8.3 this restaurant currently has. The last 4 reviews have been silly advertisements so I figure they deserve it.

Belissimo
Stopped for a late lunch on a freezing Thursday afternoon. Brushed up on our Italian to practice it with the charming owner, Frank. Maybe because we visited between the lunch and dinner rushes, Frank stopped to chat a while between courses...crisp, delicious salads and seafood pasta. Everything prepared the authentic Italian way, and generous portions...molto delizioso!...

Fabulous Meal
I had a very pleasant dining experience at La Piazza. Our party arrived at 6:00 on Friday evening, we were seated promptly and were served fresh bread within the first 10 minutes of being seated, very nice.

We decided to share several dishes and opted for the Caprese Salad, Mussels, and Antipasto Salad; followed by Rack of Lamb and Gnocchi. Everything was delicious.

Our waitress was excellent, she brought extra side plates and was there for us every time we needed anything. She suggested some wonderful Italian beer which we thoroughly enjoyed.

All in all, this was a great meal and a lovely evening out with great friends. Highly recommend.

La Piazza is a treasure. The atmosphere is pure Italian, very cozy, and the waitstaff very friendly and attentive. The food is scrumptious. I had the Lobster Ravioli which was delicious. The lobster was very fresh and the dish was seasoned perfectly. Their desserts looked excellent, but due to the huge, irresistable portions, I had to pass. I highly recommend La Piazza for a business lunch or a romantic dinner.

Italian with class
i've been to this restaurant at least 5 times, including our pre-nuptial evening dinner in their small party room (great decor including fireplace). This is not your typical suburban Italian restaurant as the food is gourmet and the atmosphere quite trendy. The wait service is great and they have good parking access. We always like the food, especially the fresh bread. Good wine selection!!

Great food, nice wine, decent atmosphere and really friendly staff. They were quite happy for some of us to have a couple of smaller dishes rather than a main, and were very good on wine recommendations. I liked it here very much (even with terrible jetlag!)

A cool place in Manotick
This place is tucked off the main street in Manotick in a pretty coll spot with a nice inviting atmosphere. We were in early so only two of the tables were taken and we got our choice of spots to sit. I was in the mood for a different beer and this place did not disappoint. Being a bit indecisive our server offered me up two free samples of re they had on tap. The Barking Squirrel Lager from HopCity brewery in Southern Ontario was a delight.Visiting the butcher each week we noticed this place and decided to give it a whirl. We started with breaded fried zucchini and bruschetta. The zucchini was a little soft previously frozen I presume but the bruschetta was very good. I had the combination plate of lasagna, cannelloni & veal parmigiana. They each had distinct flavours that was not hidden by the sauce which was a fresh tangy light tomato basil. My wife had Veal Bocconcini a veal scaloppini rolled and stuffed with house spices and cheeses served in a mushroom cream sauce. Next visit that will be my choice. I never thought I would say this but there was too much food and I left overstuffed a good thing really in the time of shrinking portion sizes and overpriced entrees.
