Great place
My wife and I love going to the "le buffet des continents". The food is very good and there is a very good selection. We are always amazed at the size of the buffet. Many unusual offerings from around the world; and all kept fresh. It is impossible to try eating everything; but what we samples are quite good. The big surprise was the price - good value!

what a mess.
This was our first, and probably last, time at this restaurant. I had heard such great reviews as well as saw them on here and to say I was sorely dissappointed is an understatement. The staff is cordial enough, but the atmosphere is strained and far too overcrowded. We were seated on the second level and it was very abrupt to have a table placed at the top of each staircase crowding the area where people could maneuver by down to a small aisle where only one patron could pass at a time.

This seemed to be a running theme throughout the restaurant. The buffet bars were far too close together with no traffic control causing huge bottle necks and crowds around some of the more popular dishes or people flocking to areas when they saw fresh trays brought out. The bars need to be spread apart more by two or more feet each, and possibly angled to help contol the flow of traffic. Perhaps a clearly defined entry and exit of the buffet area would help this.

The staff also needs to be mor diligent with replacement of the dishes. We arrived shortly after 5 pm. By 5:30 pm the plate sections on the ends of all but 2 of the buffet bars were completely empty and the bowls in the soup and dessert sections were about 90% empty.

Speaking of soup the soup bar upstairs (All of two soups consisting of Fennel honey and won ton) were disgusting. I watched them bring out a fresh pot of soup downstairs and simply pour it into the existing pot not wiping the spills around the pot where it was a mess! As well the upstairs soups the fennel soup had a disgustingly thick skin atop it and the won ton soup was less than a quarter full with very little actual soup and the won ton's smushed and broken at the bottom of the pot.

The atmosphere was far too loud not even allowing for the slightest in conversation. Our server was fairly attentive but kept trying to talk to us while standing 10 feet or more away so neither myself nor my husband could hear or understand him.

Finally the desserts were abysmal. The chocolate *pudding* was nothing lss than a disgusting watery brown soup. The lime jello had black, possibly bigs, stuck in it, The cakes are all the cheap rather flavorless sheet cakes you find at any standard chinese busset. all-in-all there is no originality in the dessert bar at all. Same goes for the rest of the food. Everything is bland, sub-par, and dried out. They had corn on the cob and even that was overcooked and disgusting.

There is no floor control, when not doing random circles on the floor to refil drinks the waters and waitresses simply hide in their stations. In the hot food service for the meat cutting the cutters would wander off causing patrons to have to flag them down or form long lines before the cutter would notice and return to his station. Even on exit waitresses, hostesses, and others were standing at the bar near the entrance/exit just chatting and blocking the exit aisle to the door.

Overall it was an unpleasant experience and one I will not be repeating.

I always eat something different, and love it
I go here everytime I'm in Gatineau which is about once a month. Timing can be tricky for how long you'll wait, but it's worth it. I don't recommend attempting to sample everything cause there is just too many great choices, so I have to say, survey everything first then make a plan.
Atomshphere is great, service is always excellent, and it's a fun place to go with family and friends, and not too loud if you need to have a work lunch.

Good Food
The food was very good. Lots of choice. We went on a Saturday evening and it was extremely busy. I was not impressed by the cleanliness. My feet were sticking to the floor from food being spilled and they should have someone supervising the food, kids and even adults picking food out of containers with their hands. The service was not very attentive the night we were there. We had to ask twice for more water. We were sitting in a section where we could see the bus people cleaning off dishes. They were eating while they were doing this. Overall the food was good, but the cleanliness could be dramatically improved.

Good (89.10)

Ten of us lined up for over 1 h on a Sunday evening at 5:30 PM to get in. My suggestion is to go after 7 as there was no wait. The theme was India and after reading on their website the wide selection of soups, it was disappointing to see only 4 pots, 2 of which were wonton soups, the other minestrone and fake crab. Not an Indian soup in sight (lentils or dholl would have done fine). The Indian selection itself was not impressive - the spicy cauliflower / chick pea was anything but (the Chinese beef-veggie combo was spicier); the butter chicken was so-so; the tandoori chicken was acceptable but the potato/crab nuggets were very dry. Other cuisines that I sampled were better; e.g., pork chop in a nice sauce, basa fillet, pork souvlaki and a seafood medley (St Jacques?). The better food was Chinese although the General Tao chicken was kind of chewy and the Chinese broccoli was just standard broccoli.

As mentioned in another review, the dessert is similar to that of a standard Chinese buffet - several cakes, jello water melon and ice cream. My advice is to go there with low expectations so as to avoid disappointment. The selection consists of 4 serving tables which does have a selection of good food among others not so good, e.g., pizza. The room does have sections that are themed - Mediterranean, African, medieval(?) but because we were 10 at peak time, we had to settle for a table under the stairs and could not really enjoy any scenery.

Overall, you will be well fed, as this is a better buffet than what is available in Ottawa-Gatineau. We all ate well.

A shamble of flavors...
Lots of things to choose from- but the tastes all blended together. Nothing was unique and not very tasty. Big disappointment. Pasta was mushy and quite possibly came from a can.
Too many people and too much traffic!
Expensive for the quality.

Maple taffy stand a nice touch. Very unique. Decor is... interesting, but a bit too much going on.

Took us 30 minutes to get our bill- the ultimate turn-off.

Superb (420.10)

Went to this place recently for weekend brunch. There are many choices of ordinary food most of which I found too salty. On the positive side; as a meat eater they had sliced roast beef, smoked meat, pork, ham and turkey and my friend said the cod was quite good. To rate this place, I guess I would compare it to DuBarry or Tuckers Market – the washrooms were cleaner than DuBarry and seemed cleaner overall and there is more variety than Tuckers Market – so I’ll give this place 6/9 compared to other similar establishments, I can’t really complain for $11 or $12.

going down hill?
I went again today. The price is now $9.65 for weekday lunch. This time one entire section was different pizzas.. and the desserts have mostly turned into those sheet cakes found in Chinese buffets. :(

Is too much, too much???
If you are a buffet fan this place is for you!!! so many selections with walls and walls of food. However if you can not control yourself like myself generally you are going to feel sick at the end of your meal from eating waaaayyy too much as it is hard to not want to try everything!!! If you have will power to watch what you eat then fill your boots, but if you are like me the boots, the pants, the shirt, the hat all get filled and I feel sick lol... Great quality, amazing selection I highly recommend!!!

Not very good food
I have been to this restaurant for weekday lunch and weekend brunch. The service is very good and the interior is nicely decorated. However, the food is a bit of a letdown - it just does not have much taste, and is not very fresh. It is OK for a quick lunch but not anything else.

Bland food
Be it Mexican, Chinese, Italian, Greek or whatever, the food offered here is horribly bland. Even the desserts are sad affairs. Boring buffet fare for those who prefer quantity over quality and taste.
