ennnhhh it was ok
Supposedly there is some positive hype about HBB. We weren't sure whether to try the five guys or here so we chose this place because there were more burger toppings, based on the websites.

My burger was ok. If you get the lunch deal it is only $10 for burger + fries + coke (free refills). But there aren't any substitutions like you can't add bacon or cheese or get sweet potato fries with this deal. My friend didn't get the combo so her fries and drink cost like $5 extra.

Also tried the cinnamon donuts - although they were hot, they were rock hard. Not worth $6.50!!!

PS the fries seemed to be the fresh type (shoestring cut) but they were all stumpy, like < 2 cm long. Scraps maybe.

The place is very noisy too. I liked our waiter.

Over all, I don't think I'd return. No comparison to The Works in Ottawa in terms of selection or price.

Finally went here
This place has funny hours. Closed Sunday. Open Saturday only after 5 p.m. Closed Monday? Friday open only until 8:00 p.m. Therefore it took us 3 tries to get there at a time that it was open!

It is pay-by-weight, similar to Mongolian Grill, but at MG they don't weigh the rice. You can also bring your own container or get take out.

The dishes I tried were: rice/mushroom/vegetable soup, a veggie rice wrap, chicken curry, vegetable curry, some kind of purple yam, green beans, mushrooms, and KFC (Korean fried chicken) etc. Everything I tried tasted good. There were 2 other Korean dishes such as bulgogi as well as a salad bar. The dessert was $2.50 for a mini creme brulee.

The employees are very nice and friendly. Also the shop has some religious & Xmas slogans and a sign saying that 1% of sales goes to several charities.

Good start
I had been to this location when it was previously called Local Heroes & Wiley's. Now it looks very fancy & nice inside(improved decor).

I am not sure which latin country the new owners are from. There was Spanish-language music playing and many menu items had Spanish names. If somebody finds out, let me know.

I liked my lunch meal: 1/4 chicken + baked potato + salad for $9.99. High volume! Most of the lunch stuff was sandwiches so we ordered off of the regular menu.

Some other friends complained. There was a dish arroz con pollo that contained shrimps but the tails weren't removed. One lady waited too long to get her salad.

The most expensive item I saw on the menu was steak for $34.99 but none of my friends ordered that one because it was a work lunch.

There was one appetizer that sounded really good - like tortilla bread with meat and nacho toppings. I will get that next time.

The only thing I didn't like was our waitress because she was a little too casual in her style and she didn't know the Spanish pronunciation of the menu items. She seemed to be new to the place so maybe they will train her.

This place used to be called 1-for-1 pizza
Same guy working there (owner?), same location, same equipment, same food, different menu, different name. I always get the chicken souvlaki for my family. It's always fresh, with a big potato, rice, and salad. No complaints other than the tzatziki which is a bit sour.

None of us would go back there
Very limited menu. Couldn't find anything I felt like eating (mostly all deep fried or meaty stuff). Fish & chips were pretty bad, limp and greasy and the tartar sauce had a crust on part of it. Didn't care too much for the server either. Kind of pushy.

The furniture is bad - you know when the chair legs are not glued so your chair can rock because the wooden posts are disconnecting? It's dangerous.

Have never seen as much graffiti as I saw in the washroom (2nd stall) anywhere else in my life!

Definitely better now that the new family has taken over
High volume, fresh food, low price. Only $12 for a platter including tax. And the lady was making the hummus from scratch. Plus now they're open on Sundays.

There seemed to be two kinds of broth: spicy, or not spicy. Unfortunately the non-spicy was duck flavour, which was kind of stinky. Would be better to have chicken, veggie, or mushroom flavour as well.

It was a fun experience to pick & cook our own foods and I liked using the drink dispenser.

Service: non-existent. Took forever to get the broth and even longer to get the raw meat delivered. (I didn't mind that part because I grabbed other meat from the self-serve bins.) Took forever to settle the bill too. (You pay at the cash. That cashier was ultra slow and disrupted the transaction like 3 times to do random stuff.)

Worst part: upon exiting finding out the cost per person is $22.59 for supper. Lunch is only $10.

Finally, 3 of us complained about extreme gas. Not sure which food item is gas inducing.

Better than expected
I have been visiting Ogdensburg for many years for cross border shopping. Each time I usually eat at McDonald's and never dared to enter Buster's. The outside looks like a warehouse. I always figured it must be some creepy bar.

Finally today a friend and I got in and were surprised! It was just fine. $8.99 for buffet of: popcorn shrimp, fried chicken, macaroni & cheese, mashed potatoes, turkey, some other fish, salad bar, fried clam strips, fried fish pieces, cole slaw, chicken wings, etc. The food tasted A-OK. Too bad no cakes, gravy or corn in the buffet, though.

Also they have a huge aquarium of cichlids and a lot of sports photos on the walls.

just setting up - good luck
Inside were a lot of Halloween decorations and Christian symbols. The family running it seemed nice. One guy was trying to repair one of the 3 rotisserie things. Their debit/credit card machine is not hooked up yet but you can get cash in Scotiabank in the plaza.

I wonder what happened to David's Shawarma (same location previously). These guys do have better hummus & garlic sauce than David. For the downside, they seemed to be out of lettuce! So my salad was like 25% onions! Also they hadn't filled the bins of veggies/rice so that preparation happened behind the scenes.

Right now they have some grand opening specials. Get the 2nd item at 50% off. Hopefully business will catch on because the location is very good.

This place recently opened near T&T. Didn't like that they microwaved the rice & potatoes. Other than that, nice service, good attention... good chicken meat...around $12 something for a platter.

Owned by cheapskates
I have gotten takeout from this KFC a few times lately. I notice that when you order, they try to upsize you. Like I'd be buying the $24.99 bucket + side dishes combo and they'd want me to buy the even more expensive one that comes with brownies and 2-L bottle of Coke.

This time was the last straw. On Thursdays there is a $10.99 deal for 10 pieces of chicken (brown meat only - drumsticks & thighs) + fries. I ordered the $24.99 bucket combo and in terms of chicken they tried to cheap out. I got home with a rectangular box (not bucket) and the pieces inside were almost all brown meat and puny ones such as 2 chicken wings. You lost my business, cheapskates!

PS I never knew but the cole slaw containers sure have shrunk!

comfortable.. tastes like home cooking
I can report that Koullan food didn't taste anything like "Horn of Africa food". It is pretty cheap too, like $12.50 per person including a canned drink. I got a big plate with rice (basmati?), a small amount of tomato/eggplant stew, some salad, and some chicken. The chicken was a bit like curry but very mild flavour. My friends also tried the beef. We all gave it thumbs up and they had real cutlery and we didn't see any injera flat bread. The young adults who ran the place were very nice and polite too. Good luck, guys! So far, so good!

Somali restaurant
I first saw the sign while driving thru the area. Didn't have time to stop to look. This time I went back. Couldn't find the sign. Can't find the proper address or phone # on canada411 either! It's right off Carling Avenue, around the corner from AppleTree Clinic, Taj Indian Cuisine, etc. Somebody with some nerve go try it pls. I wonder if it is similar to Horn of Africa restaurant, etc.

not like the real Mel's
I expected the same food that I have had in other locations of Mel's Diner but what I got was Universal food. (Hot dog/ fried chicken with fries... they don't seem to have anything else in the park. Seems identical to what's in Richter Burger as well.) The service is so disorderly that it takes forever to get the food and by then it is lukewarm. I only ate 1/2 my burger out of desperation.

enhhhh ok if you're in the area and don't want to leave
There aren't too many meal choices (non greasy ones) at the Prime outlet mall so we tried this one because they had cheap lunch deals. I didn't like my food too much though. The waitress was great. I had BBQ chicken (mojo style) with coconut rice and coleslaw and sweet tea. The chicken didn't taste mojo-ish at all... but the rice did... well a puddle of liquid under the rice did... and the rice didn't taste like coconut at all and the coleslaw wasn't very crunch. Kind of mushy. The chicken was really greasy and fatty.

"Best Greek"???
The sign claimed to have the best Greek food so I went in to try it before noticing I was in a pizzeria. I was a bit nervous because they just had some already cooked pizzas on display and an old shawarma chicken rotisserie going. But the souvlaki was alright. My family enjoyed it. Only thing I didn't like was the tzatziki. It tasted a bit sour or something.
