New review added to Sweet Gallery Exclusive Pastry

Absolutely fantastic
The value for price here is amazing. I keep telling the owner he must raise the prices. The highest item costs $10.00. This is NOT just a patisserie, it is a great restaurant for simple meals at great prices. The owner (Mirko Babic) works tirelessly to make sure that everyone is looked after. One of the best things about the place is that you can have a private party in the upstairs banquet hall where there is even a roof garden which is charming. In October, he has Serbian Nights where he brings in a chef from Serbia. The cuisine is fabulous.

I urge you to try this great secret at Mt Pleasant & Soudan, one block South of Eglinton.

New review added to Rocco's Plum Tomato

"a terribly mismanaged restaurant"
interesting how the majority of reviews for this particular location enjoyed the food but it was the SERVICE that negatively affected the experience...here's the terrible experience our party of 40 (yes 40 locals) who will not come back:

the good: the food - everything was delicious

the bad: we had a large party of 40 - the restaurant only scheduled one server for it - thru little fault of her own, the service was sadly lacking

the ugly: we could not see that the manager did anything to help her even though seventeen 7-year-olds waited 90 minutes for food and half of them had to leave before dessert came out; the manager refused to give us our group discount which we had agreed upon when booking (arguing that the 'bookee' had no right to have offered the discount); in spite of our complaints on service the manager refused to remove the automatic 15% gratuity for large parties (which really can't even be legal).

the verdict: in spite of great food the experience was a complete turn-off - the manager was rude, unhelpful, and truly couldn't have cared less if we left happy or even indifferent. the most disheartening part is that the party had been booked 2 weeks prior, with all details worked out including a pre-set menu for the kids; separate bills for the adults; and a group discount. whether it was an overly-ambitious staff member who agreed to the booking or not, the mismanaged event will go down as a brutal event for 17 families who live in the area.

We have tried many and some come real close. I was in the buissness for a few years. Remember deep dish?
This beats it by a mile, especially with well done crisp crust. The #2 deluxe is our stand-by favourite. Even our friends all agree.
Got to go, our pizza is at the front door.

One of A Kind.
We entered Tucker's, expecting the usual buffet. But it was anything but. The cheery waiter explained to us the "steps" of eating there, and for only TEN DOLLARS, we could get as much as we wanted. The food was very unique, and well spiced, not the kind of stuff you'd find in a usual buffet. Freshly baked loaves of bread, made-to-order pasta, burgers, and meat, and TONS of salads. The desserts were amazing, too! They even offer a kid-friendly Ice Cream station with endless varieties of sprinkles and flavours. ALL of this for TEN DOLLARS! A cheery atmosphere, cheap prices, amazing food. What else could one ask for?

Great Food, Great Service and Great Patio
This is one of our favorite restaurants in toronto. We love the chef's creativity. We go there almost on monthly basis to try out their new menus. we have visited last week for a bday occassion. We tried their new $ 27.00 menu and almost liked everything except papri chaat. Amuse - lentil and sweet corn shorba with quail egg canape was so tasty that we have requested for 2nd serving. In fact 4 of us tried all 4 options they have appetizers and entrees. Out of all Gratinated veggie samosas, tandoori shrimp, Benagli Salmon with mustard curry sauce and lamb shank were the best. Gnocchi pasta and boondi papri chaat were ok , they were missing the kick which we had it for all other dishes. Dessert pistachio kulfi (server said it seems that is the Indian Ice Cream ) with garam masala raspberry sauce was just amazing.
This is a great place for all kinds of occasions and must tryout place.

This used to be one of our favoured restaurants on the Danforth but I cannot believe the last experience we had.

The service was slow - we had to ask the hostess to send us a waitress.
No cutlery or plates we laid at the table
No water was offered
Bread was delivered with no butter or oil and at this point no cutlery or plates - we ended up getting these ourselves from a nearby table
Two of three items delivered were not what we ordered
The food was lukewarm and had to be reheated
We saw a waiter put his finger into a glass of beer to remove something and continue to deliver this to a customer

Consistently Great Restaurant
This is a consistently great restaurant, having the freshest sushi I have consumed (yet) in the GTA. I have eaten here, with different groups of people, for years... even when it was a small 'hole-in-the-wall' place that concentrated on take-out. The price is extremely reasonable for the quality, and they have a good selection of cold sake (for those with a taste for such delights).

New review added to Lola Steak Bistro

Personable service and delicious steak
I went to this small restaurant with my best friend because I had a coupon that I could use at this restaurant, and I had a crave for nice steak. We got there before 6pm and I didn't see any customer (generally not a very good sign for restaurants), so we were standing outside wondering if we should look for another place, and this charming lady with genuine smile came out of the door and introduced us with their menu in very polite manner. We had been enchanted by her smile by then and we went in. As you walk in, you will immediately see the kitchen area on your left, which is quite open, and it wouldn't look too charming as an entrance to a restaurant, but the humble bow of the chef himself distracted us from the scene. As you proceed inside, you will find seats quite neatly done. We both ordered their steak fix menu for $25 with a soup, salad and steak. Pumpkin puree was very good, balsamic salad came with quite a generous portion, and steak was amazingly well marinated and tasted delicious. The portion of the meal was just right, and the service was also very personable and very attentive. I would definitely go back there just so that I can enjoy the steak again, and I would also like this place to do well. Next time I should definitely try their Thai dishes. I appreciated their service so much that as I walked past the kitchen on my way out I had to bow back to the chef as a sign of gratitude.
