Been To 46 Countries
Eaten what they call pizza in perhaps, 30 of them. None come close to Pendeli's. I actually remember when the place opened. Years later I left Montreal. I go back once a year and always make sure I drop in for the best there ever was - bar none. Enjoy !!!!!

Wedding
The first contact I had with the owner was tremendous. She was very polite and was helping me in making this important day work out just fine. She was open to every suggestion. The day of - it was a disaster. The food wasn't served on time (although very good), the service was disgusting. The head waiter was rude to everyone. Nothing went has planned - all my guests were very disappointed and so was I.

Overrated and overpriced
If Amelio's is the best pizza in Montreal, all I can say is that Montreal doesn't have very good pizza. Sure, we have 99 cent slices galore but Amelio's as an "establishment" of the downtown/McGill ghetto area coasts on an undeserving reputation. I used to live close by so I'd go on occasion. The last time I went I vowed never to go again. We went in before going to see a movie at Cinema du Parc. There was one table left. We were four people. The table was for six people. The waitress refused to let us sit in that table because she said, although no one was there, that it was ONLY for parties of six. What the hell? I could see why you wouldn't sit a couple there but she decided to make us wait instead of giving us a free table. We ended up waiting since there's nothing else in that area and finally got a table. Guess what? Nobody ended up sitting in the "table for six" and we missed our film. Thanks, Amelio's! But speaking of the food, the pizza is mediocre at best, oozing with low quality cheese, standard cardboard like crust, and a typical array of toppings. Strictly for people who've never been outside of a Pizza Hut.

Great home cooked vegetarian Indianmeals for next to nothing
No menus, no fancy table settings, fresh home cooked Indian food. Costs next to nothing. In fact, I don't know what is going on as the last two times we were there, they insisted on charging us less than they should have. I don't know how they make ends meet. Five of us ate for $22, should have been $30. When we insisted on a better explanation for the lower bill, the owner waved us off impatiently. Quite contrary to that review I read on this site about a Montreal Thai restaurant where the restaurant manager insisted on a tip. You can have channa bhatura - chickpeas with fresh fried Indian bread or a thali, a platter of their 3 or 4 vegetarian dishes of the day, served with freshly prepared bread. Fresh here means right there and then, not earlier the same day!

Exceptional Greek Food on Montreal's South Shore
We live in Ottawa but visit Montreal often. Our first stop in Montreal (Brossard on the South Shore) is always at Arahova. Service is good and the food is always sizzling fresh. Their brochettes (chicken or pork) are exceptional and their tzaziki is superb. Arahova has other locations including one on St. Catherine in downtown Montreal. But we have not tried this or any others. Worth a trip across the river though if you are in Montreal ever.
